DHARAN, Feb 25: Following an agreement with the administration of the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), doctors and staffers who were preparing to stage a protest to press various demands including a pay hike have called off their protest.
The agitating doctors and staffers called off their protest after the administration agreed to form a committee to study their demands. The protesting faculty members have demanded a salary hike of 20 percent in line with the pay hike effected by the government.
The 43rd senate meeting had endorsed a decision to increase the salaries of staffers by 18 percent to 20 percent.
“The senate meeting had decided to hike the salaries as per the BPKIHS’s capacity. The committee will study the demands of the staffers and faculty members,” said acting Vice-chancellor Dr Guru Prasad Khanal, adding that a five-member committee will be formed by Tuesday.
