KATHMANDU, Feb 11: US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Richard A Boucher arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday noon in course of his two-day visit to Nepal. He will hold meetings with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Foreign Minister Upendra Yadav, Defense Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, and Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist and Leninist (CPN-UML) General Secretary Jhala Nath Khanal on Wednesday. He is also scheduled to meet other political party leaders during his stay in Kathmandu.
Boucher is the top US official visiting Nepal since the formation of the Maoist-led government. Sources said the meeting will feature discussion on US investment in Nepal, ongoing peace process and issues of human rights and deteriorating law and order situation in the country, among others. He will return after organizing a press conference at US Embassy, Maharajgunj, on Thursday afternoon.
