KATHMANDU, May 19: The meetings of the House of Representatives (HoR) and National Assembly on Tuesday endorsed the annual policies and programs unveiled by the government recently.
Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota announced this afternoon that the policies and programs earlier presented by the government were endorsed by the HoR with majority votes.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari had presented the government's policies and programs during the joint session of the federal parliament on May 15.

During today's HoR meeting, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli responded to queries raised over various matters pertaining to the policies and programs. The meeting also disapproved the amendment proposals on the government's policies and programs registered earlier by lawmakers Minendra Rijal, Prem Suwal, Sarita Giri, Laxman Lal Karna and Durga Poudel.
The next meeting of the lower house has been scheduled for 1 pm on May 26.
Meanwhile, the upper house also passed the government’s policies and programs for fiscal year 2020/21. The document was passed by a majority after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli responded to the queries of lawmakers earlier this afternoon. The policies and programs were tabled by the upper house chair Ganesh Timilsina for endorsement.
The meeting also rejected the amendment proposal presented on the policies and programs by lawmakers Anita Devkota, Shekhar Kumar Singh and Pramila Kumari.
The government is working to present the fiscal year budget on May 28. The upper house will meet at 11:00 am on Wednesday.
