Bomjon supporters clash with locals

SARLAHI, Dec 3: Ram Bahadur Bomjon locally known as ´Buddha boy´ has yet again caused controversy as his followers and the locals of Patharkot and Jiajor area in Sarlahi district clashed on Sunday night.



The clash occurred after Bomjon´s follower Ankit Yonjan allegedy attacked three locals including one Mohan Gurmachhane with sword and khukuri on Sunday evening.[break]



Bomjon has been living in the house of one of his followers in Patharkot VDC for the last few months.



Locals chanted slogans against Bomjon and beat up his followers on Sunday night. The whole Patharkot area remained tense Monday and police were deployed to stop the clash.



A local teacher Mohan Magar said Ankit had sought local youths´ help to thresh his paddy crop and warned of consequences should they refuse.



“Some locals had gone to meet Ankhit to discuss but they were suddenly attacked during the meeting,” Magar said.



Police sub inspector Santosh Shrestha of Lalbandi police station said the clash stopped after police mediated a six-point agreement between the two sides.



The locals have however decided to expel Bomjon from the area, according to Magar.
