NEW YORK, Sept 29: Authorities have recovered the body of U.S. Rep. Carolyn Maloney´s husband, who died on a mountain-climbing expedition in the Himalayas.

Global Rescue, a company that provides search and rescue services, said in a statement Monday that 71-year-old Clifton Maloney´s body has been recovered from the slopes of Cho Oyu (CHOH´ oh-YOO´), the world´s sixth-highest mountain. It straddles the border of Nepal and Tibet. The company said the remains were en route to Katmandu where the body will be prepared for transport to the U.S.

The millionaire investment banker and avid climber was resting in a high-altitude camp after a successful ascent to the summit Thursday when he died unexpectedly.

Carolyn Maloney represents New York´s 14th Congressional District, which includes parts of New York City.
