Bodies retrieved: Belbagar settlement at landslide risk (with photos)

BAGLUNG, June 26: Three people includign a baby girl have died after being buried by a landslide triggered by incessant rainfall at Dhullubaskot in Bareng rural municipality-1 on Monday night.

BAGLUNG, June 26: Three people includign a baby girl have died after being buried by a landslide triggered by incessant rainfall at Dhullubaskot in Bareng rural municipality-1 on Monday night.


The deceased have been identified as Bishnu Bahadur Khatri, 40, his wife Bishnu Khatri, 35, and her three-month-old daughter, said DSP Bishwa Raj Singh, spokesperson of District Police Office, Baglung.

The incident took place after a mound of earth above their house caved in due to heavy rain that started at 11 pm yesterday.


A rescue team deployed by the District Police Office, has retrieved the bodies that will be brought to the district hospital for postmortem following a site report.


Similarly, Jaidi and Chhisti of Jaimini Municipality-7, 8 have been  threatened by landslides after the debris collected  following construction of Kaligandaki corridor started sliding due to heavy rain.


According to the accounts provided by Chairman of Nepal Red Cross Society Belbagar Chapter Hari Narayan Paudel, as many as 30 houses have sustained damages in Belbagar due to floods that came through the Kaligandaki corridor.
