“Talks are ongoing between the government and political parties on this issue. Therefore, no one should try to blackmail,” he said while inaugurating the 24th academic assembly meeting of Nepal Academy here on Wednesday. [break]
“Since all political forces are holding discussion to forge consensus, I am hopeful that the talks will yield results,” he said.
The government is trying its best to write a federal democratic republic constitution and ensure the peace process by ending all kinds of conflicts, the prime minister said.
The meeting of the assembly, the supreme body of Nepal Academy entrusted with preparing policies and programmes of the academy, is being held in after seven years.
The prime minister urged the academy to work for the welfare of all nationalities and linguistic groups.
On the occasion, Minister for Culture and patron of the academy Dr Minendra Rijal said his ministry is ready to offer necessary support to the academy and it should work with new pace now.
Academy Chancellor Bairagi Kaila said the academy will launch research and study projects on several areas of language, literature, culture and anthropology, among other sectors, next year.
Vice-Chancellor Ganga Prasad Upreti said the academy will work for the development of languages and literature in line with the changing time.
