The committee, in a statement, said the FDR, CVR and other important parts of the Dornier aircraft found after excavating as deep as 18 feet under the crater left by the impact of the crash were brought to the capital. [break]
A police team involved in the excavation also recovered the second engine of the aircraft.
According to the committee, the CVR was found in a slightly deformed state, while the FDR is in total disarray.
The recorders will be sent to a well-equipped lab outside the country that will send transcripts to the committee.
Superintendent of Police Ram Prasad Shrestha of Makawanpur district, where the crash occurred, said committee coordinator Kumar Prasad Upadhyaya, spokesperson Suresh Acharya, member Rajan Pokharel and Agni Air´s Marketing Executive Nitesh Thapa were handed over the black box, CVR, a wallet, a passport, a driving license, debit cards, US dollars, and coins recovered by a police team from the crash site.
Excavation has been officially stopped at the crash site following the recovery of the objects.
Some parts of crash victims´ bodies, also recovered from the site, were burned at the site itself, according to Shrestha.
The committee has decided to wait for recommendation from the district´s police chief to award the pledged cash prize of Rs 25,000 to individuals or organizations who found the FDR, and an equal cash prize to the finder of the CVR.
Meanwhile, the Shree Bakaiya Thakur Lower Secondary School located near the crash site was handed over Rs 25,000 on Wednesday out of Rs 50,000 that local political mechanism recommended for the school. The school was the first to report the crash.
