Biswas Sharma as Solar System Ambassador 2012

KATHMANDU, March 22: Biswas Sharma, a freshman at Morehead State University (MSU), has been selected as the Solar System Ambassador of 2012.



The Solar System Ambassador Program, as part of the NASA Public Outreach Program, is sponsored by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California.[break]



Sharma completed his schooling from St. Xavier’s College where as president of the astronautics club, Frontier De Astronautica, he gave presentations on space mission, the basics of terrestrial, space flights and space vehicles.



He also served as the student liaison for Astronepal, the national astronomical society.







Sharma has also been involved in helping organize the International Year of Astronomy 2009 programs in Nepal on behalf of the International Astronomical Union.



His programs included a public solar eclipse observation program, Galilean Nights Jupiter observation program, space photography exhibits and astronomical discussion programs.



Sharma was also involved in the training of middle school teachers and students on the proper use of telescopes to make accurate stellar observations.



Sharma is currently astrophysics major at MSU and a member of the college Space Science Club.
