KATHMANDU, Sept 15: Nepal police has rearrested Khadga Bahadur Bishwokarma aka Prakanda from the Supreme Court premises on Friday right after the apex court ordered the authorities to release him. Apex court officials confirmed that this was the fourth time Bishwakarma was arrested immediately after the court ordered his release.

Earlier, a division bench of justices Anil Kumar Sinha and Prakash Raut had directed the government to release him stating that he has been arrested without any valid reason. The bench also warned the government and its subordinate authorities to be sensitive about the rights of the citizens.

Stating that the order of the apex court in relation to the release of Prakanda who is the spokesperson for the Netra Bikram Chand led-Nepal Communist Party was intentionally violated by the government and its subordinate authorities, the apex court warned that the court shall not remain silent on the case of such a violation of the rights of the citizens.

The order states: “The court has issued a stern warning to the government and its subordinate authorities that the court shall not remain silent and cannot be a silent spectator when there is a violation of the rights of the citizens and cannot remain insensitive toward such violation of rights.”

The bench had also directed to release Prakanda in the presence of Supreme Court's Chief Registrar Rajan Bhattarai and submit the evidence of his release to the bench.

“He was released according to the order and we saw that the police personnel rearrested him,” a staff of the apex court told Republica. “But we don't know why he was arrested again.” This was his fourth arrest from the apex court premises.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had ordered the authorities to release Prakanda on August 17, 23 and September 3 but immediately after his release the police had rearrested him from the court premises and extended the detention for prosecuting him in various criminal offenses.
