BHAKTAPUR, Oct 23: Madhesi People´s Rights Forum-Democratic (MPRF-D) leader and lawmaker Sanjay Sah has said the Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (BIPPA) that Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai struck with India is against national interest.

Speakinga at a program in Bhatktapur on Sunday, Sah said the investment pact was made in haste, stating that the pact had to be signed ideally only after completing the ongoing peace and constitution writing processes. [break]

He said the BIPPA has only helped UCPN (Maoist) improve its long-strained ties with India rather than the deal serving national interest.

Sah also accused Madhes-based parties of being involved in power-centric politics.” The issues of Madhes have been superseded as Madhesi leaders are running after acquiring ministerial portfolios for themselves."

"If this continues, one day Madhesi people will lose faith in their own leaders," he added.
