KATHMANDU, Aug 4: The authorized distributor of Chinese sports brand Xtep for Nepal, Rainbow Private Limited, has made footballer Bimal Gharti Magar its brand ambassador.
Organizing a press meet in Kathmandu on Thursday, Rainbow announced that they made Bimal brand ambassador for one year period. Bimal and Rainbow's Director Ganesh Shrestha signed the contract papers during the function. Rainbow also launched Xtep products on the same occasion.
As per the agreement, Bimal will wear Xtep football boots during all matches he plays. He will also wear the clothes of the same brand during off-field sporting events. However, the financial benefits provided to the striker was not disclosed.
According to Rainbow, Xtep is the largest sports brand in China and makes kit for Spanish top flight team Villarreal as well.
Speaking at the press meet, Rainbow's Director Shrestha said, “Xtep is very close to football, so we chose emerging footballer Bimal as our brand ambassador to establish it in Nepali market.”
Rainbow is also planning to involve other players as well with the Xtep in future, according to Shrestha.
Xtep's director of international market Sanjiv Mahbubani said that he expects brand to fill the void of sports-wear in Nepali market.
Rainbow has also expressed commitment to take initiative for the development and expansion of Nepali sports.
Bimal thanked Xtep for choosing him as brand ambassador. “I am happy with this partnership. I represent a team and I feel my whole team is brand ambassador,” he said.
