KATHMANDU, August 23: Prem Suwal, member of parliament of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, has said that the 'Disappeared Persons Investigation, Truth and Reconciliation Commission (Third Amendment) Bill, 2079' has not come to give justice to the victims.
In Tuesday's House of Representatives meeting, MP Suwal, while presenting a notice of opposition to the proposal seeking permission to introduce the 'Disappeared Persons Investigation, Truth Finding and Reconciliation Commission (Third Amendment) Bill, 2079', said that the bill did not bring justice to the victims. He said that the victims were not informed about the provisions of the bill. He also said that the bill gives immunity to the perpetrators. MP Suwal said that transitional justice will be related to other laws and this bill will not complete the rest of the peace process.
He said that serious violations of human rights are being reconciled as human rights violations, and the perpetrators of the violations should also be punished.
