KATHMANDU, May 30: Foreign Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba held bilateral talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Hong Kong on Friday. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the signing ceremony of the International Organization for Mediation, where Dr Rana attended as the representative of an observer nation.
During the meeting, the two ministers discussed Nepal-China relations, matters of mutual interest, and preparations to mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties this year.
Dr Rana reiterated Nepal’s firm commitment to the One-China policy and assured that Nepal will not allow its territory to be used against China. She thanked the Chinese government and people for their continued support in Nepal’s socio-economic development and expressed hope for sustained cooperation in areas such as economic partnership, technology transfer, and foreign direct investment.

She also thanked the Chinese side for its participation in the recently concluded Sagarmatha Dialogue. Referring to past bilateral engagements, Dr Rana discussed the implementation of agreements made during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's official visit to China in December.
On the occasion, Dr Rana extended an invitation to Minister Wang to visit Nepal. Both ministers welcomed the joint decision to mark 2025 as the ‘Visit Nepal Year’ in celebration of 70 years of diplomatic ties and expressed hope for increased Chinese tourist arrivals.
Minister Wang congratulated Nepal on the successful hosting of the Sagarmatha Dialogue and expressed readiness to collaborate on climate change mitigation and environmental protection. He also conveyed China’s willingness to support Nepal through the new mediation initiative and urged the Nepal government to expedite implementation of past agreements.
Wang accepted Rana's invitation to visit Nepal and invited her to participate in the Global Women Leadership Forum.
