KATHMANDU, July 10: A meeting of the big three parties -- Unified CPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN UML -- scheduled for Saturday afternoon was put off after UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal expressed inability to attend the meeting.

UML Chief Whip Bhim Acharya said Chairman Khanal failed to attend the meeting as he remained busy in funeral procession of slain UML leader Chhabi Karki who was killed in Okhaldunga Thursday night.

At the meeting, top leaders of the three parties were scheduled to discuss the agenda on government formation. Also, the main opposition party, UCPN (Maoist), had announced it would present at the meeting its proposal for integration and rehabilitation of Maoist combatants and constitution drafting.
