Inaugurating a Bagmati clean up campaign organized by the ministry of science and technology in the UN Park area at Jwagal in Lalitpur, Bhusal said foreign ambassadors were making naked intervention in Nepal´s internal affairs by barring the elected government from working independently. The clean up campaign was organized to mark the International Labour Day.
At a time when the country is determined to take the peace process to a logical conclusion and write a new constitution, Bhusal said the government will not tolerate foreign meddling aimed at making the country a hostage of indecision. She said the major challenge at present before the country was whether to move ahead independently or at the direction of foreigners.
She stressed on public awareness and a campaign from the public against the land mafia who were responsible for encroaching the Bagmati river and polluting it.
Science minister Ganesh Shah said all who loved Bagmati should come together to protect the river and not wait for the government as the government alone cannot do anything.
On the occasion, the ministers planted trees on the park premises and took part in the clean-up campaign. UN Park Development Committee, KMC, Bagmati development committee, Lalitpur sub-metropolitan city, JTUCC and Waste Management and Resource Mobilisation Centre also participated in the programme. Nepal Police and Armed Police Force teams also participated. A group of visually impaired artists presented an awareness song on Bagmati clean up.
