KATHMANDU, April 7: A meeting of the Council of Ministers today decided to perform the last rites of Nepal’s sixth Sanghanayak Bhikkhu Ashwaghosha with special state honours.
The Cabinet, while extending grief and condolences over the passing away of Bhikkhu Aswaghosha, decided to bear all the cost required to conduct his last rites, Minister for Communications and Information Technology and government Spokespersons, Gokul Banskota told the RSS.

The meeting also expressed its condolences to all the Buddhist monks and nuns, the Buddhist followers and the Buddhist community on the demise of Bhikkhu Ashwaghosha who passed away on Friday. He was 94.
Earlier, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, ministers and parliamentarians had visited the hospital to take stock of Bhikkhu Ashwaghosha when he was undergoing treatment.
Bhikkhu Ashwaghosha was nominated to the National Assembly member through the quota of then CPN after the people’s movement of 2064 BS.
