Bhawana, Bipana to vie for title

KATHMANDU, Oct 21: Defending champion Bhawana Sunuwar and Bipana Blon have advanced to the final of the women's singles event in the ongoing Fourth Civil Bank Open Squash Tournament on Friday.

KATHMANDU, Oct 21: Defending champion Bhawana Sunuwar and Bipana Blon have advanced to the final of the women's singles event in the ongoing Fourth Civil Bank Open Squash Tournament on Friday.



In the semifinal matches held at Satdobato, Bhawana defeated Sapana Blon in straight sets of 11-3, 11-6, 11-3 while Bipana overcame the challenge of Swasthani Shrestha 11-1, 11-6, 11-8.



In the junior boys' U-19 singles event, Dipak Thapa and Amir Blon are set to vie for the title after winning their respective semifinal matches.  Dipak defeated Bijay Magar 11-9, 11-5, 11-4 while another finalist Amir overcame Roshan Lama 11-6, 14-12, 8-11, 11-8. 



Similarly, in the junior boys' U-13 singles event, Ranjit Thapa registered victory over Sabin Thapa Magar with the scoreline of 11-7, 11-4, 6-11, 11-5 to confirmed his place in the final.



Gopal Thapa joined Sabin in the summit clash beating Bikash Thapa Magar 11-5, 11-4, 11-2 in the semifinal clash. 



In the veterans 50 plus event, defending champion Sudip Bahadur Singh and Yam Rana progressed to the final. Sudip beat Mahendra Maharjan 11-1, 11-0, 11-5 while Yam overcame Lal Bahadur Gurung 11-4, 12-10, 11-6 to confirm his title clash against Sudip. 



Similarly, Dhir Pun and Binod Ratna Shakya will vie in the final of the men's singles plate championship while Hira Bahadur Thapa and defending champion Arhant Keshar Singh will compete in the first semifinal of the men's singles event. In the second semifinal, Prabin Birsingh Kansakar and Amrit Thapa Magar will vie against each other. 



The tournament organized by Nepal Squash Rackets Association on the occasion of the World Squash Day will concluded on Saturday.
