Bhaktapur sees eight new bird flu outbreaks

KATHMANDU, Aug 8: A total of eight bird flu outbreaks have been confirmed in Bhaktapur district on Thursday.



According to Narayan Prasad Ghimire, Spokesperson at  the Directorate of Animal Health (DoAH), the bird flu outbreak confirmed at four poultry farms at Jhaukhel VDC, two in Chittapol VDC, and one each farms at Tathali and Sipadol VDCs in the district.[break]



With the confirmation of eight new outbreaks, the total number of outbreaks has reached to 32 in last two weeks in the district alone.



DoAH confirmed the bird flu virus in the poultry farms owned by Sirayan Acharya, Shivaram Sallu, Dayaram Dukal and Ankit poultry farm at Jhaukhel-8. Similarly , the bird flu virus also detected at the poultry farms of Surya Lal Haiju and Hari Krishna Dhaiwan at Chittapol-1, a farm of Puskar Khatri at Tathali-4, and a farm of Suresh Thapa at Sipadol-8.



According to Ghimire, rapid response teams of comprising vet officials and technicians have been sent to the site to cull the bird flu tainted chickens.
