Bhairahawa defeated Region No 7 (Janakpur) while Birgunj beat Region No 6 (Baitadi) in the matches held in Birgunj, Parsa. [break]
A hat-trick from Krishna Karki, who was later adjudged man-of-the-match, in the last three balls of the first over helped Bhairahwa defeat Janakpur by five wickets while Brgunj beat Baitadi by 41 runs.
Janakpur scored 115 runs off 20 overs losing all wickets after they opted to bat first winning the toss. Anil Mandal scored 75 runs off 52 balls with seven boundaries and two sixes while five of Janakpur´s batsmen were out on ducks. Bibek Chaudhary took four wickets for Bhairahawa in his three-over spell conceding 21 runs.
Bhairahawa met the target in 17.5 overs losing five wickets. Opener Subash Pradhan gave a good start to Bhairahawa as he struck quick 31 runs off 18 balls. Anil Mandal was able to grab three wickets of Bhairahawa but that was not enough for the win.
In another match, Birgunj scored 130 runs losing nine wickets in 20 overs after Baitadi opted for fielding first. Amit Shrestha was the highest scorer for the winning team with 38 runs. Chandra Saud took four wickets of Birgunj in his four over bowling, conceding 18 runs.
A five-wicket haul from Narayan Patel helped Birgunj restrict Baitadi in 17.3 overs with a total of 89 runs on board. Binod Bhandari was the top scorer for the losing team with 31 runs off 40 balls.
