Bengali filmmaker Tarun Majumdar passed away at the age of 91 on Monday.

Bengali filmmaker Tarun Majumdar passed away at the age of 91 on Monday.

According to family sources, Majumdar was undergoing treatment from June 14 at SSKM hospital in Kolkata and was on ventilator since June 3, Sunday.


He is survived by his wife Sandhya Roy. He has won four National Awards, seven BFJA Awards, five Filmfare Awards and an Anandalok Award. Majumdar was honored with the Padma Shri award in 1990 by the Government of India.


He is known for his creations like Balika Badhu, Kuheli, Shriman Prithviraj, Fuleswari, Dadar Kirti, Bhalobasa Bhalobasa and Apan Amar Apan.
