According to the manager of the hotel, Ishwar Kumar Ban, although there were physical fights between the two sides, the hotel owners used no weapon against the assaulters. According to Ban, they only retaliated in self-defense. "Let them name who among us hit them with khukuri, then we will see," Ban said.
The hotel management has requested 10 out of the 35 ex-staff who joined the trade union to come for peaceful talks to resolve the issue. "We have requested some 10 guys, who are good workers, to come and talk to us. The owner may take them back if they come and talk to us nicely," Ban added. He further informed that of the ex-staff, Bhopal Karki and Laldhoj Lama, are in touch with them at present.
The Chinese Embassy too will be meeting the Beijing International owners and staff on Friday to discuss the matter.
