BCCI working group to study IPL suspensions

NEW DELHI, July 19: The Board of Control for Cricket in India is forming a working group to advise it on the implications of a recent Supreme Court committee verdict that suspended two top Indian Premier League teams.

The group will give advice "with an objective to protect the interests of all the stakeholders involved," the BCCI said in a statement released Sunday after an IPL governing council meeting in Mumbai. The BCCI runs the IPL.The Supreme Court committee on Tuesday announced suspensions for former champions Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals.

The committee also proposed life bans for Chennai team principal Gurunath Meiyappan and Rajasthan co-owner Raj Kundra for betting on IPL games or being in contact with illegal gamblers.
