Basnet is in contact: Youth Force chairman

KATHMANDU, June 10: Morang district chairman of the ruling CPN-UML´s Youth Force (YF) Parshuram Basnet, whom police is searching in connection with attack on journalist Khilanath Dhakal is in contact with the organization, YF chairman Mahesh Basnet said on Friday.



Speaking at a press meet, Basnet said that the reportage carried by various newspapers is an attempt to defame the image of the organization. Parshuram Basnet is innocent, Basnet claimed. [break]



Basnet also vowed to take stern action against him if found guilty.



Apparently at the behest of Basnet, Rohit Koirala, Biratnagar in-charge of the YF, had taken Dhakal to a secluded place where Manoj Rai, along with his inebriated friends, had severely flogged him Sunday night.



Basnet had targeted Dhakal for a news story about his plot to kill Abhishek Giri, who is in judicial custody for allegedly killing his former friend Karan Yadav in broad daylight on the court premises last week.
