Chelsea fan banned for three years for homophobic abuse
However, chants to Cristiano Ronaldo of ‘Cristiano come out of the closet’ from a section of supporters behind the goal clouded events on the pitch.
The chants of those supporters were drowned out by whistles from other sections of the crowd, but Barcelona could still land themselves in trouble.
This comes after Atletico Madrid’s Koke reportedly called Ronaldo a ‘f*ggot’ during the Madrid derby last month.
The Spanish football federation are trying to clamp down on abuse in stadiums, and are likely to take a dim view of the incident.
