Shrestha also apprised the PM of the global economic crisis and cohesive efforts that the board and the management of Nepali banks should make to escape unscathed.
“The PM commended the initiative of the forum and assured the delegation that he will positively look into the concerns of the forum and direct the concerned authority for early resolution of issues raised in the memorandum,” states a release issued by the forum on Wednesday.
The forum is a corporate social forum established recently. The forum has created a nine-member ad-hoc executive committee under the chairmanship of Shrestha. The prime objective of the forum is to fairly represent and lobby for the interest of all stakeholders in the banking sector.
Trader´s status still unknown
Police are yet to trace the whereabouts of businessman Gaurav Krishna Rastogi who was abducted from Nepalgunj on Sunday night.
Nepali and Indian police are working in conjunction in an attempt to locate Rastogi, according to the district´s Deputy Superintendent of Police Raj Kumar Baidwar.
Rastogi, who traded in garments in Tribhuwanchowk and Rupadiya was abducted on his way home from work. Police suspect the abductors might have taken him to India.
Career fair from Friday
SAPE Communications, a leading education fair organizer, is holding the Career Fair 2009 from June 26 in the capital, targeting students awaiting the results of SLC and Plus 2 examinations.
The objectives of the fair are to give right information and counseling to the students to take proper decision for their career.
Issuing a press release on Wednesday, SAPE Communications said the three-day event is the third education fair organized by SAPE, which has been organizing such events in different places of Bhutan and India.
More than 75 educational institutions from different countries including India will take part in the event at Bhrikutimandap Exhibition Hall.
Information about professional and vocational courses except for graduate and post graduate courses will be provided during the event.
Carlsberg to mark 100th anniv of pH scale
Carlsberg is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the invention of pH scale -- a scientific breakthrough that took place at the Carlsberg Laboratory in Copenhagen hundred years ago.
Carlsberg will hold the celebration in September this year, states a press release issued by the company on Wednesday.
The pH scale was invented by Professor SPL Sorensen, head of the chemistry department of Carlsberg Laboratory in 1909 while conducting a research on proteins, amino acid and enzymes.
The concept of the pH scale provided a revolutionary standard measurement for determining whether a solution is acidic or alkaline.
