KATHMANDU, April 20: Bankde district in the western part of the country has already turned into a COVID-19 hotspot as hundreds of new cases are being confirmed on a daily basis.
As many as 322 more people were diagnosed with the viral disease through the 632 PCR tests conducted in Nepalgunj on Monday alone as the second wave of the virus hit in the country. Of the total cases confirmed, 264 cases are from Banke district alone.
Birgunj turns into COVID-19 hotspot, once again
Most COVID-19 wards, ICUs and ventilator facilities in the district have run out of capacity. According to the officials, there are 86 patients at Bheri Hospital and 23 at Nepalgunj Medical College.
Similarly, seven patients are undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at Hotel White House and five in Kohalpur Muncipality’s COVID-19 hospital. As many as 812 others are staying in isolation in their own home.
Two more deaths on Monday
Banke reported two more deaths related to COVID-19 infection. A 35-year-old female and another 77-year-old male breathed their last while undergoing treatment at Nepalgunj Medical College on Monday.
With this, the district has so far reported 63 fatalities linked with COVID-19 infection.
