Banda in eastern districts withdrawn

DAMAK, April 1: The Federal Limbuwan State Council has withdrawn the banda (general strike) it had planned to organize Monday in the nine districts of the Eastern Region.



The Council withdrew the banda after its cadres arrested in course of creating obstruction in the collection of names for the biometric voters´ list were released.



Central Chairman of the Council, Kumar Lingden, stated in a press release today that the banda scheduled for today has been withdrawn following the unconditional release of 18 of the Council´s cadres by the Jhapa Police.



Police had on Sunday taken 17 Limbuwan cadres involved in a clash with police under control. They were arrested on the charge of obstructing the collection of voters´ list and vandalizing vehicles.
