LAHAN, Sept 10: Irate cadres aligned with the Madhesi Morcha set District Traffic Police Office, Siraha on fire, sending traffic police personnel to take shelter at a Lahan-based area police office.

The agitators have also vandalized Hotel Maruti, NCC Bank, Social Development Bank and one private house lying to the south of Sahid Chowk.

Banda enforcer Badriram of Lahan-1, who sustained bullet injuries in a clash with police last night, has been referred to a better-equipped hospital for additional treatment.

The clash had ensued between the security personnel and irate cadres after the latter tried to obstruct the road by felling trees across the highway.

Police fired two dozen teargas shells and 20 rounds of shots in the air to take the situation under control.

Banda enforcers had hurled a petrol bomb targeting DSP Uma Chaturbedi, Chief of Lahan Police Office.
