KATHMANDU, May 18: Amid growing demand from people to endorse the ‘right to reject vote’ in elections, a number of votes cast in the recently held local elections have been found written ‘No Vote’ by voters.
In the local elections held last Friday, the government conducted polls at all 753 local levels. During the vote counting, a voter each from Dakshinkali Municipality-4 of Kathmandu and Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City-4 are found writing ‘No Vote’ on the ballot papers.
Controversy erupts after more ballot papers were found in Nepal...
The right to reject is a form of protest in which voters get to say no to all the candidates in an election. In many countries, such a right is being given to the citizens allowing them to denounce election candidates whom voters consider incapable for the given political positions.
