Baitadi health care centers reeling under medicines crisis

BAITADI, Oct 4: Almost all health care centers in Baitadi district have witnessed a shortage of medicines due to delayed process in the drug procurement. The officials of the health centres that are handed over to the local governments said that there is a shortage of drug in their stores. 

Health Assistant of Kesharpur Primary Health Centre of Melauli Mukesh Dayal said that the health centers in Shivanath Rural Municipality and Pancheshwor Rural Municipality are running through the crisis for lack of medicines to be distributed to the locals for free. 

However, health coordinator of Shivanath Rural Municipality Jagdish Bhatta shared that the process for the drug procurement has been initiated. 

Similarly, health coordinator of Dilashaini Rural Municipality Ramsingh Khatri added that shortage of medicine was the result of delayed supply though it is expected in every quarter. "The crisis of medicines to be distributed for free is certain if they were not purchased before Dashain festival," Khatri added. 

The case is same with the Purchaudi Municipality too. Health coordinator of the municipality Binod Kumar Kunwar shared that crisis of medicines is likely adding that procurement of medicines in not possible immediately because the programmes of the health sector were not approved so far. 

Likewise, Chief of District Public Health Office Dr Jagdish Chandra Bista shared thae same story adding that there is not a sufficient stock of drugs even in the district hospital as the drug procurement process was not started in time. RSS
