Bagmati govt spends only 16% of budget in first half of current FY

The provincial government had presented a budget of Rs 64.54 billion for the current fiscal year, of which Rs 10.50 billion was spent by the end of Poush. According to Paudel, the capital expenditure is lower compared to the recurrent expenditure.

KATHMANDU, Jan 17: The Bagmati province government has spent only 16 percent of its annual budget in the first six months of the current fiscal year 2024/25. Suraj Paudel, information officer of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning of the province, said that only about 16.27 percent of the total budget had been spent by mid-January (Poush end).


The provincial government had presented a budget of Rs 64.54 billion for the current fiscal year, of which Rs 10.50 billion was spent by the end of Poush. According to Paudel, the capital expenditure is lower compared to the recurrent expenditure.

Among the allocated budgets, The Office of Chief Attorney stood top on spending 41.56 percent of the total, while the Province Assembly Secretariat spent 28.36 percent. Similarly, the least spending was made by the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Cooperatives at only 4.6 percent.
