KATHMANDU, Oct 27: Bagmati Province Chief Minister (CM) Ashta Laxmi Shakya is seeking a vote of confidence in the provincial assembly meeting today.
CM Shakya had presented a proposal at the provincial assembly meeting on October 10. According to the Provincial Assembly Secretariat, all necessary preparations have been made for the voting. The meeting is scheduled to convene at 1:00 PM on Wednesday.
“Separate booths have been arranged for the ruling side and the opposition parties for the vote of confidence scheduled for today,” the secretariat said, adding, “Necessary staff including officers have been deployed to conduct the voting.”
There are 109 members of the ruling and opposition parties in the provincial assembly. There are 44 members of the ruling party, CPN-UML. Similarly, the provincial assembly has 23 members of the main opposition CPN (Maoist Center) and 22 members of the other opposition Nepali Congress, 13 members of the CPN (Unified Socialist) Party, three members of the Bibeksheel Sajha party, two members of the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party and two members of the Rastriya Prajatantra party and one of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP).
