The locals of Chhisti made such demands with CA Member Poudel during his visit to the area to meet the affected community.
Dayanath Sharma, a local, asked CA member Poudel if his house was fit in to live. In reply, Poudel said only engineers could answer that.
“Then send us engineers,” Sharma was quick to reply back. He also urged CA member Poudel to make arrangements to help the affected locals to repair their houses damaged by the earthquake. Government must dispatch technical teams to the affected areas, according to Poudel, so that risky buildings do not end up hurting people.

The earthquakes of April 25 and May 12 have affected thousands of houses.
Although a technical team consisting of engineers deployed by District Disaster Relief Committee (DDRC), Baglung have already inspected houses in the Baglung municipality areas and marked them with color coding based on the risk, they have not gone to rural areas. “I am not sure whether my house is safe or it needs to be pulled down,” said Chiranjivi Sharma, secretary of Chhisti VDC. “I and my family fear to live inside our house that developed several cracks in the earthquake.” Locals even quiz relief providers about the condition of their homes.
According to District Administration Office (DAO), Baglung a total of 16,032 houses have been demolished completely in the district.
“In the initial phase, we’ve deployed four teams in the municipal areas. They have already inspected buildings of government offices, hospital, and public,” said Chief District Officer Shesh Narayan Poudel. It will be difficult to inspect all the houses at once and sending teams to inspect homes in the rural areas will take even longer, he informed.
