Bad weather affects domestic flights

KATHMANDU, Dec 15: Domestic flights have been affected today due to inclement weather. Domestic flights have been affected today due to low visibility due to dense fog in Terai/Madhesh. According to the Tribhuvan International Airport office, the flights were affected due to insufficient visibility at airports other than Bhadrapur, Pokhara, Dhangadhi, Surkhet, and Tumlingtar.

Teknath Sitaula, spokesperson for the office, mentioned that the flights will be affected due to poor visibility in the Terai region, especially in the next few days. Buddha Air Information Officer Dipendra Kumar Karna said that the flights have been affected at all airports in the Terai region since morning due to poor visibility. According to Yeti Airlines Spokesperson Sudarshan Bartaula, flights at all airports except for Bhadrapur and Pokhara have been affected today. 

Similarly, other airline companies have informed the passengers about this. There are about 300 domestic flights daily. Buddha Air has a maximum of 150 two-way flights. Yeti Airlines has 58 daily flights. Similarly, Shree Airlines, Saurya Airlines, Guna Airlines also fly to various domestic destinations. At present, 20 air service providers including 11 helicopter companies are  conducting domestic flights. 

Although there is no significant weather system in the country at present, the weather forecast division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has said that some parts in the Terai will experience fog and there is also a partial change in the hilly areas of the country. In the afternoon, the weather will be generally clear in Gandaki and Lumbini provinces as well as in the hill areas of Province 1 and Bagmati Province. In Kathmandu,  the maximum temperature today is 19 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is 7.6 degrees Celsius.
