Organizing a press conference in the capital, Arbind Pradhan, Director of the school said that the tournament will feature 19 teams. [break]
There are 13 teams in the men´s section and 6 in women´s section from Kathmandu valley. The tournament will be held on league-cum-knockout basis.
The men´s teams are divided into four groups and women´s into two groups with three teams in each group. The top two teams of each group will qualify for quarterfinal stage in the men´s section and the top two teams in the women´s section will advance into the semifinals.
The organizers have announced that the Most Valuable Players of both categories will be awarded a Micromax Mobile. The host has announced to conduct Inter-school Taekwondo Championship after the basketball championship.
Group A consists, Puspa Sadan, Valley Public and KMC in the men´s section. Similarly, Daffodil, the host Baba Boarding ´B´ and Brihaspati are pitted in Group B. LRI, Children´s Liberty, Gyan Niketan, Gyan Jyoti, HIMS, Baba Boarding ´A´ and Sambotta are in Group C and Group D respectively.
In the girls´ section, Daffodil, Valley Public and Baba Boarding are placed in Group A while The Chandbagh School, Mahendra Bhawan and KMC are in Group B.
Baba Boarding ´B´ will take on Brihaspati in the opening match of the men´s category while The Chandbagh faces Mahendra Bhawan in the women´s section.
