Auxiliary health workers call off protest

KATHMANDU, April 29: Senior Auxiliary Health Workers’ Rights Protection Committee lifted padlocking at Department of Health Service, Teku on Thursday after its demands were fulfilled.



The agreement has it that the Ministry of Health will appoint senior auxiliary health workers in 50 percent seats out of total vacant posts in health institutions across the country. [break]



The health workers’ body resorted to stage the padlocking to protest the halted appointment process from the fiscal year of 2062/063.



It is said that the number of trained senior auxiliary health workers is between 250 and 300 in Nepal.



If the agreement was not fulfilled, we would against launch protests, said Bimal Babu Thapa, chairman of the workers’ rights protection committee.
