Australian govt provides Rs 11.4m aid

KATHMANDU, Nov 4: The Australian government has agreed to provide Rs 11.4 million support to various 11 organizations to carry out various development activities.



Australian Ambassador to Nepal Susan Grace on Thursday signed the agreement with eight different organizations in Nepal to provide them with the support. [break]



According to a press statement issued by Australian Embassy in Kathmandu, the funding under the embassy´s Direct Aid Program (DAP) will be made in various priority sectors including health and sanitation, infrastructures, human rights and disability.



The recipient of the DAP fund for 2010-11, according to the statement, are Nepal Blind Association, Nepal Eye Program, Tilganga Opthalmic Institute, Dhunibesi Adarsha Campus, Dhading, Sheer Memorial Hospital, Nepal Network for Cancer Treatment and Research, Himalayan Rescue Association, Siddhi Memorial Hospital and Human Rights and Films Center.



The Australian government has announced an estimated AUD 18.44 million of Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) to Nepal for the fiscal year 2010-2011. A total of Rs 10.9 million fund was provided to various 17 projects in Nepal in the last fiscal under the embassy´s DAP.
