KATHMANDU, Sept 19: Australian Ambassador to Nepal Felicity Volk called on National Assembly (NA) Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina on Monday at the latter's office in Singha Durbar.
NA Chairman Timilsina's press advisor Durga Sharma said that the NA Chairman and the Australian Ambassador discussed the issues of bilateral interest, friendly ties and high-level visits among others.

During the meeting, Timilsina stated that Nepal and Australia have enjoyed very friendly and collaborative relations since the diplomatic ties in 1960.
Stating that Australia has remained a destination for Nepali students, Timilsina viewed that Nepali students could benefit if the scholarship quotas were increased.
Likewise, he said that both countries could benefit immensely if direct flights between Australia and Nepal were started.
Likewise, Ambassador Volk said that Nepal was in top priority for Australia and also informed the NA Chairman about the upcoming Nepal visit of Australia's Speaker of the House of Representatives in October.
