Oli govt unveils report of achievements made during five-month period (with detail report)

The KP Oli-led government has unveiled its achievements made during the period of five months on Monday. According to a report unveiled today, the achievements include ending syndicate, lackadaisical in development works, maintaining frugality in the public expenses and controlling over irrelevant foreign visits, curbing gold smuggling, among others.

Province 2 minister Sharma released on general date 

Mahottari District Court has ordered to release the state minister for social development of Province 2, Abhiram Sharma on a general date. Following the hearing at the court on Monday, the single bench of Judge Brajesh Pyakurel ordered the local administration to release Minister Sharma on the general date, according to the registrar of the court, Rama Nanda Pyakurel.

Karnali province struggles without food grains every year, but no redress

Every year, the Karnali Province reels under food insecurity. Despite the problem being almost like an annual ritual, governments have paid little or no attention to address the issue so far. Four out of seven districts in the province suffer from food shortage. The spared three are Rukum, Salyan and Surkhet. 

KMC operates senior citizens recreation center

The Kathmandu Metropolitan city has established senior citizen recreation and day care centre at ward 23 of the metropolis. The service centre came into operation three months back, has attracted the senior citizens. Various musical instruments including harmonium, tabala, flute, madal, drums among other instruments are kept in the center.

Death toll from quake that hit Indonesian island passes 430

The death toll from the earthquake that rocked the Indonesian island of Lombok a week ago has passed 430 and the government is estimating economic losses will exceed several hundred million dollars.The Aug. 5 quake killed 436 people, most of whom died in collapsing buildings.
