KATHMANDU, April 30: Main opposition party CPN-UML has expressed serious objection over the impeachment motion registered at the Parliament Secretariat by lawmakers of the Nepali Congress and the CPN (Maoist Center).
UML Parliamentary Party Deputy Leader Subas Nembang said that the move by the two ruling parties was an attack against the independent judiciary. “I am shocked to hear the news. This is an attack against the independent judiciary and an attack against her courageous work performance as chief justice,” said Nembang.

Explaining that the move of the ruling parties has come in the wake of a court decision scrapping the appointment of the police chief by the government, Nembang said the move resembles autocracy in the country.
“We will protest in a just and responsible manner against this move by the ruling parties,” said Nembang. The UML leader also said that the move was aimed at foiling the environment for local, provincial and parliamentary elections.
