At least four killed, 14 injured in Bolero Accident

OKHALDHUNGA, Nov 15: At least four people have been killed and 14 others injured in a Bolero accident at Sikaridanda of Sunkoshi Rural Municipality on Monday morning. The ill-fated jeep (01-022 Cha 9694), which carried pilgrims, was heading to Champadevi Kakani Temple, a famous pilgrimage site.  

According to Chief of District Police Office, Okhaldhunga, Govinda Raj Kafle, the deceased have been identified as Mithumaya Magar, 35, of Betini Rupse, Siddhicharan Municipality-10, Tulsa Magar, 17, of the same place and Khagendra Magar who permanent address is yet to be ascertained.  A passenger, who is yet to be identified, died while undergoing treatment at a local hospital. 

Police Chief Kafle said there were 18 passengers in the four-wheeler which fell about 600 meters off the road. “Those injured seriously in the accident have been airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment,” said Ward Chairman of Sunkoshi-9, Janak Kumar Karki. 

The injured were immediately rescued by the police and local residents. The other injured are undergoing treatment at Okhaldhunga Community Hospital.

The Kakani temple on the border of Sunkoshi-9 and Champadevi Rural Municipality-9 of the district attracts a large number of devotees every year. On the occasion of Ekadashi, devotees from Okhaldhunga, Sindhuli, Ramechhap, Udaipur and Solukhumbal visit Kakani, which also organizes a fair for more than a week.
