KATHMANDU, August 27: The Association of Conflict Affected Family of Security Forces staged a sit in in-front of Truth and Reconciliation Commission office here today, calling for the Commission to incorporate them as well in the transitional justice process.
The Association members staged the sit-in for three hours from 10:00 this morning, chanting different slogans. It staged the sit-in putting forth various demands including dignified identity of conflict affected personnel of Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, treatment to injured security personnel and declaring security personnel, who lost their lives in the conflict, as martyr.
Association Chairperson Bina Dahal said that they staged sit-in for their identity as the Commission has not addressed the incomparable loss that the security personnel suffered in the armed conflict. Dahal said that their demands should be addressed by amending the TRC Act. Dahal said they would continue their protest programme until their demands are met.
Association Secretary Tulsi Basnet blamed that the Commission has failed to provide justice to the security personnel, who lost their lives in the armed conflict. RSS
