Aspirations for 2018

A year is only a scale of time as life is about continuous learning and gaining experiences every day. But the arrival of each New Year fills us with new hopes and aspirations. We make new resolutions and promises for a better year.

As the year draws to an end, My City team asked a few celebrities about how their 2017 was like, what they learned and experienced, and what they expect from 2018. Here’s what they said.

Jyotsna Yogi, Model

My 2017 was full of ups and downs; nevertheless I enjoyed every part of it. I became a face of Samsung Nepal because of which I got to enhance my public speaking skills, learned how to better face the camera and about different gadgets. Simultaneously, I worked hard on my acting and modeling careers throughout 2017. I started working on a movie and I am doing workshops for the same. The workshops have made me realize that being an actor is not an easy task and with the onset on 2018, I will continue to work harder to establish myself in this field.

Komal Oli, Singer

Overall, my 2017 was progressive and fruitful. I read different books and traveled to different places. I left Radio Nepal after working there for over two decades, so that was quite an emotional phase for me. I also released around a dozen songs, including my first modern song ‘Mana Bhamara’ with Yam Baral in 2017. All the songs garnered good response from the audience and I also learned video editing, so my musical career was good throughout the year. In 2018, I hope to see political stability in our country, and I hope to keep learning and help as many people as possible. I have plans to build school libraries in Dang and help girls continue their education.

Chiraj Bangdel, RJ/Artist

Life is a rollercoaster ride with all the happy and sad moments. But I would like to think that 2017 was a productive year for me. I had one solo exhibition and one in collaboration with two other artists. I went to Darjeeling to attend a cousin’s wedding, which was a memorable trip. The year 2018 will being with a bang for me as I get to represent Nepal along with other Nepali artists in the India Art Fair, Delhi to be held in February. I also hope to host a solo exhibition soon. I like to challenge myself and learn new things in arts, whether be in motifs or art mediums. I would like to expand my collection of guitars, publish my book of short stories, continue entertaining my audience and receive their love and support in 2018. I also hope to learn swimming this year.

Paras Khadka, Cricketer

The year 2017 was fairly good to me in both personal and professional lives. Though I had to undergo a surgery earlier in the year, I have recovered well. I am not quite satisfied with my international career, but we won the Everest Premier League so the national career is comparatively better. 2017 made me realize that I need to socialize more and connect with as many people as possible. I do not make any plans and resolutions per se, but I hope that we do well in our matches and qualify for the World Cup.
