Asmi Shrestha eyes Miss World

KATHMANDU, Oct 16: Miss Nepal 2016 Asmi Shrestha received an official send-off from Miss Nepal organizer, The Hidden Treasure Pvt. Ltd, in an event recently held in Kathmandu. She is set to leave for the US to participate in the Miss World beauty pageant contest on December 18.

KATHMANDU, Oct 16: Miss Nepal 2016 Asmi Shrestha received an official send-off from Miss Nepal organizer, The Hidden Treasure Pvt. Ltd, in an event recently held in Kathmandu. She is set to leave for the US to participate in the Miss World beauty pageant contest on December 18. 


Apart from Shrestha, Hidden Treasure also delivered their good wishes to participants who will represent Nepal in Miss Earth, Miss International and Miss Asia Pacific International. 


“The participants have completed their preparations for the international contests,” said Gopal Sunder Lal Kakshapati from Hidden Treasure.

“Throughout this period, they have engaged themselves in promoting humanitarian social causes which will definitely add to their repertoire for the final competition,” he further added. 


“I am hopeful I will make my country proud in Miss Nepal,” Asmi Shrestha said. Shrestha has been fundraising for her ‘Classroom & Beyond’ initiative which focuses on building a primary school in Gorkha that was highly affected by 2015 Nepal Earthquake.


She believes that her educational project will boost her chances to win the ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ category.  Ishani Shrestha, who was Miss Nepal 2013, had previously won the category three years ago. 


Roshani Khatri, first runner-up of Miss Nepal 2016, has already flown to Philippines for the Miss Earth contest that is taking place on October 29. Khatri has been involved in promoting ‘A Happy Home’ initiative.


“The initiative targets to aware people about climate change and its effect on Nepal. We have been conducting various awareness activities and cleaning campaigns to support the cause,” Khatri told at the event. 


Similarly, second runner-up of Miss Nepal 2016, Barsha Lekhi, will represent Nepal in Miss International 2016 that will be held on October 27 in Tokyo. With her project ‘Happy Smile’, Lekhi is working to provide awareness about oral hygiene and nutrition health to orphanage children in Nepal.


Anshu KC, one of the participants of Miss Nepal 2016, has been selected as Nepal’s entrant for the upcoming Miss Asia Pacific International that will be held in Philippines next month.
