KATHMANDU, July 25: The schedule for the Asia Cup 2018 has been confirmed to run from 15 to 25 September at the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Test nations Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will take on each other to inaugurate the marquee Asian cricket championship at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The other test nations India, Pakistan and Afghanistan will also earn a direct entry into the tournament whilst one of associate nations Nepal, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Oman, Singapore and UAE will fight for the remaining single spot. Teams have been divided into two groups of three - Group A consists of India, Pakistan and the qualified associate nation while Group B will include Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
Top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super 4 stage where all the four sides will face each other once and two teams with maximum points will play the final on 28th September in Dubai.
Nepal will play the Asia Cup Qualifiers in September, according to calendar of events for 2018 released by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) back in February.
The Asia Cup Qualifiers, to be hosted by India, will be six-team event with Hong Kong, Malaysia, Oman, Singapore, and UAE with the winner qualifying for the Asia Cup 2018 later the same month.
The participants are 6 best ranked Associate teams in Asia.
