Ascetic' Bamjan mingling with ‘holy men’ inside jail

RAUTAHAT, Jan 14: The recently arrested Ram Bahadur Bamjan, a self-proclaimed ascetic who was sent to Mahottari Jail for pre-trial detention, has been staying with other ‘holy men’ inside the jail, according to the order of the Sarlahi District Court.

RAUTAHAT, Jan 14: The recently arrested Ram Bahadur Bamjan, a self-proclaimed ascetic who was sent to Mahottari Jail for pre-trial detention, has been staying with other ‘holy men’ inside the jail, according to the order of the Sarlahi District Court.


After reaching the prison, Bamjan spent the first night in the Radha Krishna temple built inside the prison. Bamjan, who took a bath for the first time after entering the prison, was found to be leading a normal life like other prisoners in the prison.

Bamjan requested a bed to sleep inside the prison, but the arrangements could not be made, according to Jailor Ram Chandra Shah.


Jailer Shah mentioned there are six-seven saints in the jail. Bamjan eats with them. Jailor Shah said that Bamjan eats vegetarian food.


The inmates in the prison are also curious about Bamjan, who lives like a normal prisoner inside the prison. The other prisoners showed interest in Bamjan's lifestyle but Bamjan is living in the prison like other prisoners.


There are 598 prisoners inside the prison at present.
