KATHMANDU, Aug 12: Asan has long remained a trading hub for people of Kathmandu. Until 19th century Asan was a popular meeting point for traders from India- Tibet. The trade route is diagonally aligned, and the section within the city extends from Kathmandu Durbar Square to Asan and to the northeast. Streets converge on Asan giving the square a perpetual bustle. The bazaar at Asan attracts shoppers from all over Kathmandu because of the tremendous variety of merchandise sold here.  From dawn until dusk the six-spoked junction of Asan Tole is jammed with vegetable and spice vendors selling everything from yak tails to dried fish.
