RAJBIRAJ, Oct 2: Around 500 families at Hanumannagar of Saptari are forced to use contaminated water for drinking and household works.

Some of the residents have already started to fall ill after drinking the water. People who've rushed to health posts and hospitals have complained of diarrhoea, pneumonia, sore throat, common cold and eye discharge.

Residents have been forced to do so after recent flood that affected the Hanumannagar Kankalani municipality and Tilathi rural municipality.

Since the flood entered the settlement, substances-mixed foul water started coming out from the shallow tube-wells. Without an alternative, people are forced to use the very water for drinking. Shallow-tube well is the main source of drinking water in the Tarai settlement. RSS
