Army in Tilottama's semifinals

BUTWAL, Oct 24: Defending champions Nepal Army stormed into the semifinals of the 17th Tilottama Gold Cup Football Tournament after crushing hosts Rupandehi XI 4-1 in the quarterfinal match on Sunday.



Tanka Basnet met the net twice while Bikarna Shrestha and Amrit Basnet scored a goal each for securing semifinal berth for Army Club. [break]Tanka Basnet opened Army´s account in the eighth minute and doubled the score-line in the 16th minute.



Bhim Darlami brought some joy for the home fan in the 33rd minutes through a successful header. Darlami scored as Army goalkeeper Bikas Malla made a wrong judgment and moved forward from the post.



However, Army dominated rest of the moments and added two more goals in the second half of the match. Bikarna Shrestha and Amrit Basnet added goals in the second half to register an easy win for Army.



Tanka Basnet was adjudged man-of-the-match.



Army will take on the winners of the match between Armed Police Force (APF) Club and New Road Team (NRT) on next Saturday.
